MB7UNB started 24-7 operation on 24 September 2007. It is a digipeater which relays any beacon or message heard on to the next station. A beacon digipeated by MB7UNB will reach an Igate (gates to the internet) MB7UKS in one hop. The station uses a Kantronics KPC-3 TNC connected to a Kenwood TM-231 transceiver on low power (5W).
The KPC-3 when fitted with 8.2 software is ideally suited for a stand alone digipeater instillation. It.s low power consumption and relatively short transmit cycle enables MB7UNB to run entirely on solar power through the summer months but requires mains help during the winter. (The solar panel is rated at 60W with 160Ah battery)
